Questions and Answers:
hello Taco!! please answer my question because this is kind of imporatant for me...lets say that i am married here and after a month i'm going to Egypt and i get married over there...do you think that in Egypt or U.S.A. they are going to know that i am married woman in both countries??? i mean, do the egyptian and american goverment have a system to know if one is married in any country of the world???
thanks....
This is an interesting question. I think you'll be fine as long as you register with the civil authorities in only one country. You can have the religious ceremony in as many places as you want but should only have one marriage certificate from the government. I know alot of people have two marriage ceremonies in the US for religious reasons or because relatives couldn't travel but they are only registered in one state. Of course, that's for one country and the "full faith and credit" clause of the Constitution convers the marriage in one state for the whole union. I would only register with the government in one country but you may want to consult a lawyer and not an anonymous Mexican food on this one.
